Our last visit to the Telford International Centre was for Tattoo Freeze 2020 and that show held many great memories for us. That was the last convention we did since before attending a rescheduled Great British Tattoo Show in London, back in October 2021. Now here we are in February 2022, reviewing our return to the Telford International Centre, home of to one of our favorite shows which, once again, did not disappoint!
This year we had the pleasure of setting up the trade stand and working opposite some amazing Tattoo Artists and had a great time in dishing out free samples of the newly released Ghost Blackout Cartridges. The most popular size being the ‘49 Curved Magnum’ ofcourse! One of the best parts of doing a show is talking to someone about our product on the Saturday and seeing them use it on the Sunday which a lot of you did! As well as promoting and discussing the Blackout range, it was also a great weekend for the Ghost Omen, the newest Wireless Tattoo Machine from Ghost. We saw many artists using it over the weekend including Dale McGovern, Rob Sedge and Ash Wilkinson from Artemis Tattoo Studio as well as Lauren Ansbro from Hard Lines Tattoo, Monny Koch from New Ink Tattoo Studio, Elvee Ink from Art Biggs and more!
It was also a very successful weekend for Electrum Ink, the newest ink line at Starr Tattoo Supplies. We brought the colour ink range with us and had it front and center for all to come and check out and if you didn’t walk away with some electrum after winning it on our lucky spinner, you definitely bought some of your favorite colours off of our display racks. From those that already use it however, it was great to hear all the positive feedback and experiences you’ve had using the new ink range. The cherry on the Electrum cake was that UK Electrum Sponsors Sean Newman and Monika Koch were both awarded for their hard work! Sean, (Rebel with a Cause Tattoo Studio) took home Best of Colour for a fantastic Neo-traditional Dinosaur piece done on Saturday, whilst Monny, (New Ink Tattoo Studio) shared the Runner-Up award for Best Realism with New Ink Tattoo Studio owner, Craig James for their 2-day collaborative ‘Mask’ piece.
Speaking of awards, we wish to congratulate every artist that was awarded for their tattooing efforts over the weekend. It was nice to hear that this year’s Tattoo Freeze was judged by a number of tattoo artists at the show, which in our eyes encourages a non-biased opinion and promotes the comradery within the tattooing community. One of the personal highlights of the show was being able to present the Best of Saturday award to Laura Tonks, (@demondotwork) (Rebel with a Cause Tattoo Studio), who completed a fantastic Oriental dotwork piece on the back of the leg. She first won Best Oriental for her efforts, then the judges deemed it best of the day, and if that wasn’t good enough, she also managed to take home Best of Show as well! An absolutely incredible achievement for any tattoo artist, which was much deserved!
Special thanks from us go out to the Artists who proudly waved the Starr flag across the weekend, including the following;
